At just 14 years old, Siarra De Lange is embracing the world of pageantry while using her platform to inspire young girls and make a difference in her community. A Grade 8 learner at Linkside High School in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South Africa, Siarra describes herself as kind, passionate and hardworking.

Her journey into modelling began with a childhood love for dressing up, fashion and makeup. Encouraged by her mother, who was also a model when she was younger, Siarra discovered that pageantry could help her develop confidence and believe in herself.

Speaking about entering Miss Preteen Universe Eastern Cape 2026, Siarra revealed that her main motivation was to gain experience, meet new people and enjoy walking on stage. She worked hard to secure sponsors for her dresses and competition expenses.

Her crowning moment came as a surprise. “I didn’t think I would be crowned something because I didn’t go there to win something, I went to have fun and meet new friends,” she shared.

Beyond pageantry, Siarra enjoys playing netball and tennis, spending time with friends and family, riding her bicycle and playing with her animals.

One of the most meaningful aspects of her journey is her charity initiative at MTR Smit Haven. Every Tuesday, she visits the children’s home, where she models with the children, spends time with them and encourages them to express themselves confidently. She also supports efforts to donate old clothes.

Family remains an important pillar of her journey. Reflecting on her support system, Siarra said: “My mother has made me believe in myself and she has got sponsors for competitions I’ve done and she is just always there for me. She supports my every decision but also my stepfather. They both go out their way to be able to get or give the things I want.”

Looking ahead, Siarra hopes to grow in modelling, represent South Africa internationally and inspire young girls. Outside pageantry, she dreams of becoming a doctor so she can help others.

Her advice to aspiring young models is simple: believe in yourself, take that first step and never let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams.

For Siarra, a crown represents more than beauty; it is an opportunity to inspire, serve and encourage others to recognise their potential.
