Inspired by watching movies that featured Jean Claude Van Dam,
Calvin Madula who stepped into the acting and film industry in 2017,after playing a minor role in a short film is no doubt one of the most recognised actor in Bulawayo and probably within a month,he will be now called ‘The Outstanding Best Film/Tv BAAzw Award winning actor’.
Madula’s success in the industry can be observed by his castings in several local and international productions.
One of these being ,’Another Wedding’ a local production that premiered this month on Zambezi Magic TV channel 162 on DSTv Compact.
Calvin plays the role of Lifa Sibanda in the film,a gentleman who has to make a wise decision after impregnating two most important women in his life.
What makes this even more complicated is that he has mental health issues after the loss of his brother.
Madula told model guide that he has received positive feedback from the public,after the premier.
“Surprisingly the reception has been amazing many people loved it and were so happy for me and the production at large
The experience has been absolutely incredible,” he said.
Besides playing a major role in the film,’Another Wedding’.
Madula is nominated for the Bulawayo Arts Awards under the Outstanding Best film/Tv actor for his role in ‘Another Wedding ‘ and ‘Ezakomatshelela’.
In theater he has casted in the play Everybody’s Talking that is rumoured to be performing in Atlanta,USA this year.Calvin confirmed the rumour to be true to the model guide mag when he said,its not a false rumour that the play and the cast are heading to an international festival.
“The production has been accepted to participate in the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival. The Director Mandi Mash applied to participate in the festival in March of this year and after going through a selection process the production will be the only African production to perform in the festival in October this year,” revealed Madula.
He added,”We are still trying to get funding for it all but we are hoping that there is a department or corporate out there who will see this as a project worth backing.”
In addition Calvin is also an upcoming tv presenter a photogenic,runway and commercial model .
