From the streets of Chitungwiza… to the bright lights of the Miss World stage in Vietnam.

She came with a dream.

She carried the hopes of a nation.

And when the spotlight finally found her, Zimbabwe had every reason to pay attention.

Her name is Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso — pharmacist, community advocate, beauty queen, and Miss World Zimbabwe 2026.

This is the story of her journey.

A journey that would take her from Manyame Park in Chitungwiza… all the way to the Top 12 of Miss World 2026.

Before the crown, before the sash, before the international spotlight, there was a young Zimbabwean woman with a passion for education, healthcare and helping others.

Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso is 26 years old and comes from Chitungwiza.

But her story is not simply a story about beauty.

She is a trained pharmacist, having studied at Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University in Russia.

Her academic journey took her far beyond Zimbabwe, giving her an international educational experience while preparing her for a career in healthcare.

And that background would later become an important part of the story she presented to the Miss World Organisation.

Because for Brunette, beauty and purpose were never meant to exist separately.

On the 6th of June 2026, Brunette’s life changed.

At the Harare Hippodrome, she was crowned Miss World Zimbabwe 2026.

With that crown came an enormous responsibility.

She became Zimbabwe’s 30th representative at Miss World.

For a country with a long history in international pageantry, expectations were high.

Zimbabweans wanted to see their representative make an impact.

And Brunette knew that she wasn’t simply travelling to Vietnam to compete.

She was travelling to represent Zimbabwe.

To tell Zimbabwe’s story.

And to use the Miss World platform to speak about issues close to her heart.

At the heart of Miss World is a philosophy known as Beauty With a Purpose.

It is the idea that a beauty queen should be more than a contestant.

She should have a cause.

She should have a voice.

And, most importantly, she should make a difference.

Brunette’s background made this part of the competition particularly important.

Through her community involvement, including work associated with the BG Foundation, she has been involved in initiatives focusing on education, youth empowerment and support for vulnerable children.

She has also participated in youth-focused health and awareness initiatives.

Her message was clear:

The young people of Zimbabwe need opportunities.

They need education.

They need mentorship.

And they need someone willing to believe in their potential.

Then came the moment Brunette had been preparing for.

Vietnam.

The 75th Anniversary edition of the Miss World Festival brought together contestants from around the globe.

For Brunette, this was no longer a national competition.

She was now competing on one of the world’s biggest beauty platforms.

Every appearance mattered.

Every interview mattered.

Every challenge mattered.

And every time she stepped onto the international stage, she carried the Zimbabwean flag with her.

From the opening events to the various fast-track competitions, Brunette continued building momentum.

One of the highlights of her campaign came in the Beauty With a Purpose competition.

This was particularly significant because the competition focused on the contestants’ humanitarian projects and their ability to create meaningful social impact.

Brunette was reported among the Top Six African finalists in Beauty With a Purpose.

For Zimbabwe, this was an important moment.

It demonstrated that Brunette’s campaign was not simply about the evening gown, the stage walk or the crown.

There was a deeper message behind her participation.

A message about young people.

About education.

About healthcare.

And about service.

As the Miss World final approached, the pressure increased.

Contestants faced interviews, presentations and several opportunities to impress the judges.

Brunette also went through the crucial closed-door interview.

Behind closed doors, there were no cheering crowds.

No flashing cameras.

No elaborate stage production.

Just the contestant, her personality, her communication skills and her ability to explain what she stood for.

For a pharmacist and community advocate, this was an opportunity to demonstrate that there was much more to her than her appearance.

And then came the night Zimbabwe had been waiting for.

The Miss World final.

One by one, the names were announced.

The tension grew.

And then…

Zimbabwe.

Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso had made the Top 40.

For Zimbabwean fans watching from home, the celebration began.

But Brunette wasn’t finished.

The competition continued.

The field became smaller.

The pressure became greater.

And then came another announcement.

Zimbabwe — Top 20.

She had done it again.

From Chitungwiza to the Top 20 at Miss World.

But the biggest moment was still to come.

As the competition entered its decisive stages, only a handful of contestants remained.

Then came the announcement.

Zimbabwe — Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso.

She was in the Top 12.

At that moment, Brunette had officially established herself among the leading contestants at Miss World 2026.

For Zimbabwe, it was a moment of pride.

For Chitungwiza, it was even more personal.

A daughter of Chitown had gone to the world stage…

…and stood among the best.

Her journey eventually ended in the Top 12, as she did not advance to the final Top 6.

But the result could not erase what she had already achieved.

Pageantry is often measured in crowns and placements.

But Brunette’s story is bigger than a number on a scoreboard.

She entered Miss World as a young Zimbabwean pharmacist.

She represented her country internationally.

She brought attention to youth empowerment and community service.

She competed strongly in Beauty With a Purpose.

She reached the Top 40.

She reached the Top 20.

And ultimately, she finished among the Top 12 women at Miss World 2026.

That is an achievement worth celebrating.

Perhaps the most powerful part of Brunette’s story is where it began.

Chitungwiza.

A place that many Zimbabweans simply call Chitown.

From Manyame Park, she travelled a remarkable distance — geographically and professionally — to become Miss World Zimbabwe.

Her journey demonstrates something important.

That your circumstances do not have to determine the size of your dreams.

That education can open doors.

That service can create purpose.

And that sometimes, the young woman from your neighbourhood can end up representing your country on the biggest stages in the world.

Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso may not have returned to Zimbabwe with the Miss World crown.

But she returned with something else.

A story.

A journey.

A Top 12 finish.

And the experience of standing on one of the world’s biggest beauty and humanitarian stages.

From pharmacist…

to beauty queen.

From Chitungwiza…

to Vietnam.

From a national crown…

to the Miss World Top 12.

Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso has shown that beauty can have a purpose…

and that a crown can become a platform for something much bigger.

This was the journey of Miss World Zimbabwe 2026, Brunette Makanaka Makanyiso.

A daughter of Zimbabwe.

A woman of purpose.

And a reminder that sometimes…

the biggest victories are not always measured by who wears the final crown.
