Yui Tamano Opens Up About Contest Experience, Bullying, and Finding Confidence Again

Yui Tamano has shared her emotional journey through two very different pageant experiences—one that brought encouragement and confidence, and another that left painful memories because of bullying.

According to Yui, she has participated in two contests, each leaving a very different impact on her life. While one independent contest gave her joy, support, and confidence, the other became a difficult chapter marked by emotional pain.

“I’ve competed in two contests. The independent one was great—everyone was friendly—but there was bullying in the other contest. It was very hard,” she said.
Yui explained that the independent contest played a major role in helping her rebuild her self-confidence after facing negative treatment elsewhere.
“I think I was able to regain my confidence through the independent contest,” she shared.

The painful experience in the other competition deeply affected her mental well-being. She admitted that the emotional wounds remain difficult to revisit.
“I was mentally hurt. It was very tough. I still don’t want to remember it, and I’d rather not look back on it much,” she said.
Despite the hardship, Yui achieved remarkable success in the independent competition. She was honored with several awards, including Best Talent Show, and emerged as the overall champion, collecting a total of five titles.

“It was an honor to win awards such as Best Talent Show and become the overall champion, achieving five titles,” she said.
One of the most meaningful moments for her was having her family travel all the way from Japan to the Philippines to support her during the finals.
“I was very happy that my family came all the way from Japan to the Philippines to support me in the final,” she added.
Because the independent contest was being held for the first time, Yui also made history by becoming its very first winner.

“Since the independent contest was its very first edition, I was happy to become the first-ever winner,” she said proudly.
However, Yui also revealed some of the painful incidents she experienced during the other contest. According to her, the bullying included disrespectful remarks and humiliating situations.

“The bullying included things like being asked, ‘Who are you again?’, being told to take photos even though I was a contestant, and having the wrong title announced when my name was called. It was very painful,” she explained.

Her story highlights both the challenges and resilience often hidden behind the glamour of pageantry. Through determination and support, Yui Tamano continues to move forward, carrying both the lessons and victories from her journey 
