The question if whether Miss Tourism Zimbabwe is a cursed throne or not is a subjected that is debatable in the streets of Zimbabwe .
A number of questions are being asked by the followers of the pageant such as, what has made the throne to loss it’s value and who should be blamed for all these incidents that have been happening in the past years.
In the past few days,Miss Tourism Zimbabwe has been making negative headlines on tabloids .
Firstly it was the controversy,on how the organisers appointed Chipo Mandiudza as the reigning Queen,without hosting a pageant.
Many took it to the social media and questioned the way the organisers handled the process nicodemusly,several comments came from models and model agencies holders .
A message circulated in social media platforms that the organisers conducted the process due to the Covid-19 pandemic Restrictions did not permit them to hold a
large gathering event.
Hence they had to call upon those who were meant to take part in the event last year also the organisers had pressure from the Miss Tourism as a representative was needed from Zimbabwe .
The judges of the event were Lorraine Maphala-Phiri,Nokuthaba Sibanda Manungo,Sibusisiwe Dube ,Marble Nyathi Godfrey Koti.
However the dreams of Chipo Mandiudza of representing the country in an international platform under Miss Tourism Zimbabwe banner did not came to reality through her actions.
As she is going down the history as one of the shortest reigning Miss Tourism Zimbabwe.
A video circulating on social media of her appearing in a dishonourable and ambiguous conduct.
,made the Zimbabwe Models advocating groups to write a letter to the organisers of the pageant on the breach of contract made by Chipo Mandiudza, calling for her relinquish her title.
Immediately,Chipo Mandiudza took the pictures down from her social media account.
However the damage towards her dream and the brand Miss Tourism had already been done as many were watching her ,after she was handpicked for the title.
“Contestants must not have previously posed nude or have been involved in any ambiguous photographs or events that would compromise hers or the Miss Tourism Organisation reputation..” (Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Clause).
In an national Newspaper, the organisers of the event stated out that the short lived Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, relinquished her title as soon as she saw the mistake she had done.
And they will be an announcement on the way forward on whether someone will be selected or a pageant will be conducted to select a representative who is going to compete for Miss World Tourism on December the 15th .
One source who wanted to remain anonymous said,this shows the ignorance towards the organisers of the event and unprofessionalism .
“This is not Chipo’s problem let’s not hide behind Chipo Mandiudza’s incident. This is a revelation to the nation and the world how unprofessional the pageant had became as the organisers didn’t do any research . Imagine if all this happened when she was now in an international platform.
“I suggest the organisers of the event to follow suit what Chipo Mandiudza did by becoming professional and resign, this is an embarrassed which will go down in history ,” she said .
While other prominent people in the modeling industry shared the similar view ,that professionalism is need and for pageant organisers to research before crowing their Queens and Kings .
Previously Miss Tourism Zimbabwe has came underfire for the way they have been organising events.
