In a breathtaking display of “African Regal” glamour, Ruth Thomas was officially crowned Miss Botswana 2025 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC). The 23-year-old beauty advisor and textile graduate from Masunga triumphed over a field of exceptional finalists, securing her place as the nation’s next global representative.
The event, held on March 22, 2025, was more than just a pageant; it was a celebration of Botswana’s thriving beauty industry and the enduring spirit of “Beauty with a Purpose.”

Hailing from Masunga, Ruth Thomas stood out early in the competition for her poise and intellectual depth. Her victory has been described by many as “prophetic,” following a viral moment weeks prior where a renowned preacher predicted her win.
However, it was Ruth’s performance in the final Q&A segment that sealed her fate. When asked about her goals, she spoke passionately about:
- Inner Beauty: The belief that true elegance is grounded in intellect and values.
- Self-Love: Promoting acceptance and dignity among young Batswana.
- Faith: Drawing strength from her Christian background to lead with purpose.
While Ruth took home the top honors, the evening celebrated several other remarkable women:
- 1st Princess: Selwana Motlatsi Motsemeng (Arts Coordinator & Child Advocate)
- 2nd Princess: Girly Bone Kookilwe (Winner of the Beauty With a Purpose award)
The crowning moment was made even more special as the outgoing queen, Anicia Gaothusi (Miss World Botswana 2024), passed the baton. Anicia has set a high bar for her successor, having represented Botswana with distinction at the 72nd Miss World Festival in India, where she reached the Top 32 in the Sports Challenge.
”I stand amazed in His presence, resting in the thought that I am a daughter of a King,” Ruth shared on social media following her win. “Let your light shine that men may see the good works of your hands.”
What’s Next for Miss Botswana?
As the newly minted queen, Ruth Thomas walks away with an impressive prize package, including:
- A brand-new Polo Vivo.
- A P120,000 upkeep allowance for her reign.
- Comprehensive sponsorships for dental, skin care, and wellness.
Ruth will now begin intensive preparations to represent Botswana at the 73rd Miss World Festival, scheduled for early 2026. She carries the hopes of a nation that has become a powerhouse in the pageant world, following the legendary success of predecessors like Lesego Chombo.
