Disability does not mean in ability

Asavela Thabiso Mgojana (28) who is affectionately known as Kalvin RhythmSA Muzik or the Black Wolf is a Durban boy who was born, bred and buttered in Pinetown Marannhill. He is an energetic person and multiple talented young man. He is a South African rapper (MC), live performer, producer, singer, song writer and 2019 Best Upcoming Artist LYD Awards Nominee.

He loves travelling and exploring new places he has never been – learning other people’s culture, values or norms, eating different food and learning various languages. My motto in life is that what cannot kill me makes me a stronger, wiser and better musician. ” I have no regrets in my life  if l had not experienced my failures, mistakes, disappointments and rejections; l would not be the person l am today. Often, the pain is part of God’s bigger perfect plan for our lives, ” he says.

I am living with a disability. I have been in a wheelchair since 2015. I was born walking but everything changed after l was diagnosed with TB Spine in 2011. Doctors did their best to cure my disease but they could not make it. I came to a point of accepting my situation. Actually, l am a conquer and storm rider. I really want to break barriers and show the world that being crippled is not a limitation,” he clearly explained during the interview.

The hitmaker released 2 powerful songs that automatically became a national anthem of the town which are called Noma Nginje and ETshelimnyama Yila Ngiphumakhona. Without any element of doubt, it opened a huge door in his musical career to such an extent that he shared a stage with phenomenal artists such as Zakwe, Duncan, Musiholiq, Beast and Big Zulu.

What is your superpower?

My authenticity. I have learnt that the moment you are true to yourself, the more you will be aligned to your purpose.
