Young, Black and Gifted

A Zimbabwean artist who is based in the City of Chitungwiza, Panashe Mangezi ( 21) also known by her fans as Vans Ayaana is a model, dancer, actress who strongly believes that she has what it takes to be one of the artists in the history.

She started from the bottom, she did not wake up appearing on the television screens, making headlines on social media platforms, being booked by big artists to perform and travelling throughout the country. She worked so hard on her way to the top by simply joining modelling classes and acting workshops. She is a jack of all trades and master of all. Her uniqueness opened doors for her to work with myriad reputable gurus in the entertainment industry. For example, she featured in a music video which is called Gillman -Dandaro and Brimstone Zimbe- Chakatanga.

A talented and passionate actress developed her interest in modelling in her peak days of acting. It was much easier to learn more about modelling and it’s culture.

What are the challenges of upcoming artists?

The road to success is not a smooth road, challenges can either build you or it can break you. Being a girl, time and again you meet those who doubt your capabilities.

Generally, many upcoming artists are being affected by financial instability. The plain truth is that to produce a good quality movie and best videos requires a lot of money to fund such kinds of projects. This is a barrier that is leading many young gifted artists to give up so easily and switch to another career.

What special lesson did you learn in your career?

Modelling and acting means a lot to me. It is art, creativity, lifestyle, exploring, display professionalism, getting well – dressed, limelights, camera get into action, building a trustworthy brand, building relationships and learning from other artists.
