Shining Bright: Meet Akhona Ncanana, Miss Teen Icora FM 2026 Finalist

The stage is set, the lights are ready, and the talent in this year’s Miss Teen Icora FM pageant is nothing short of inspiring. Today, we shine the spotlight on Akhona Ncanana, a 17-year-old visionary from Empangeni (Ematshana) who is ready to lead with grace and heart.

A Legacy of Grace

For Akhona, modeling isn’t just a hobby—it’s in her DNA. She began her journey on the runway at age 15, but her inspiration dates back much further.

”The thing that pushed me was my mother, who was also a model during her high school years,” Akhona shares.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Akhona has transformed that initial spark into a burning passion for the stage and her community.

Beyond the Sash: Life in Empangeni

When she isn’t practicing her walk or preparing for the pageant, Akhona is a dedicated student and athlete. She balances the glamour of the pageant world with:

  • Netball: Keeping her active and teaching her the value of teamwork.
  • Academics: Focusing on her studies to build a foundation for her future career.

A Vision for the Future

Akhona isn’t just looking at the crown; she’s looking at the impact she can make. She plans to pursue a degree in Psychology, with a heart set on working with youth communities.

”In a few years, I see myself finishing my degree and working with the youth,” she says. “I will still be using the confidence and public speaking skills this pageant has taught me.”

Her Message to Her Peers

If crowned Miss Teen Icora FM, Akhona views the title as a platform for representation and values. Her message to her fellow contestants is one of sisterhood and empowerment:

“To every girl standing here tonight: you are already winners. Let’s keep supporting each other beyond this competition, because real queens fix each other’s crowns.”
