A South African Amapiano artist who is based in the city of Durban, Thandeka Cele (28) also known by her fans as Nickita cele is a model, dancer, multiple – award winner who strongly believe that she has what it takes to be one of the hit maker of songs in the history.
She started from the bottom, she did not wake up scooping awards, appearing on the television screens, been booked by big artists to perform or travelling throughout the country. She worked so hard on her way to the top by just simply joining modelling at Famous Cosmy Black Agent. Later on, she ventured into traditional dancing (lndlamu) then it breeds the eagerness to explore the world of theatre. She was trained at the playhouse theatre and she had an opportunity to work with uBaba Umbongeni ngema. In the year of 2021, she started her career of music. The versatile recording artist is a jack of all trade and master of all. Her uniqueness opened doors for her to work with myraid reputable people like Dlala mshunqisi,
Blaq diamond, Holly rey, dj Tira, Fro soul, Dlala Thukzin and many more. She was able to learn directly from them by asking questions or by observation.
Talented and passionate musician developed her interest of singing when she was a dancer. It was much easier to learn much more about music, how to perform live on the stage and how celebrities carry themselves as a brand. Thandeka released her first single song on 3 September 2021 which is called
Ukwehluleka featuring Z- nation. After that, she dropped another song in the year 2022 which is called Imimoya. Currently, she is working on a new project which is called The light “ukukhanya”.
What are the challenges of upcoming artists?
The road to success is not a smooth road, challenges can either build you or it can breaks you. Being a girl, time and again you meet those who doubt your capabilities.
Generally, many upcoming artists usually affected by financial crisis. The plain truth is that to produce good quality music and best videos requires a lot of money to fund such kind of a project. This is hindrance leads many young gifted artists to give up so easily and switch to another career.
What special lesson did you learn in your career?
Music and modelling means a lot to me. It is art, creativity, lifestyle, exploring, displaying professionalism, getting well – dressed, limelights and camera get into action, building a trustworthy brand, building relationships and learning from others artists.
