    Creative Minds

    (An Introduction)

    Article Written By: Silaji Saidi

This article goes a long (or short) way to centralize on fashion designers’ minds (their capability & ability), in Zimbabwe and around the globe. A perfect motivational fresh breeze of air, especially for beginners.

Design thinking is a technique used by designers for illuminating complex problems with creative elucidation. It obliges as a recipe for flogging up a batch of creativity whenever you are greedy for some raw ideas.

Fashion designers are minds of creativity. They live to execute innovative and creative ideas in the fashion world. As we all know, fashion has a world of it’s own, with a loads of different cities which are always awake and running all the time. Their dedication and obsession (fashion designers) has lead our major world to pass through evolutionary, revolutionary, extraordinary and forever changing moments.

As a designer, your mind and mindset are weapons of mass innovative creations, not ordinary, but brain teasers, heart pleasers and eye catchers. Your mind is restless; always active and working unconsciously and consciously. Everything you’ll ever and always encounter becomes an idea and a design.

Designs must only be prodigious to consumers, not you. See the beauty, don’t fancy the beauty. This pulls you away from making oneself (you) at home, as making oneself at home may loosen you up, thou creating laziness. This applies to fresh learners or beginners.

Passion for this occupation is a must have. Psychologically, it helps you to go an extra mile after an extra mile. You are a leader to yourself and your own designs, but mostly to you own designs. Live your designs, don’t let other people (consumers) live you designs more than the owner (in this case, you). In a simple term, be your designs and let your designs be you. When you’re out there in the world, it shouldn’t be hard for people to detect that you’re a designer. It may be hard for them to detect that you’re a designer without being told, but if they get to know, everything about you should be believable that you’re a fashion designer.

It’s legal to make yourself personal designs far improved than the ones you offer for sale to your consumers, but not in a repetitive manner. No matter how much passion is involved, you can’t hide or deny the fact that you’re in it for the money. A business mind or mindset is a major priority. Business is a factor running the world. You can’t escape or bury it.

It’s not all the time you’ll have your creative mojo. Ideas flow in and out, but that should never be an issue for you. Always have a backup plan. Attend fashion shows in flesh as much as you can and also watch more shows on the TV and use the internet as often as you can. In such a way, you’ll never be blank when it comes to manufacturing ideas (creative ones).

Love feedback from the world, whether it’s negative or positive. Feedback gives a room for new enriched innovative ideas.

  • DREADLOCKS

    DREADLOCKS

    By silaji Saidi

Dreadlocks, also know/called “locks” age back 2000 years ago before it became popular with the Rastafarians and African people. Now we eye them everywhere about the world with approximately everyone on this planet. Some are short, protracted, not worn/planted about the unabridged head and worn/planted about the unabridged head. A signicant meaning stage show a humongous part in all types of dreadlocks. People who’ve no philosophy in the history of dreadlocks think they originally emanate from Rastafarians and some think Africans; but they’re wrong. Dreadlocks emanate from continents, cultural practices or countries like Africa, Australia, Hinduism, Rastafarian and Buddhism etc… Dreadlocks have been worn/planted for diversied reasons in each culture: as an interpretation of rooted religious or spiritual sentiment, ethnic pride, as a political statement and in more modern times, as a representation of a free, alternative or natural spirit. In this common modern era, 3 reasons why people plant dreadlocks dominate the most are:

    1.TRADITIONAL/CULTURAL

Look around the world, people are hand to hand with their cultures and traditions. Limelighting on the dreadlocks era, Africa and the Caribbean territory mostly plant “locks” because of their culture and tradition (will explain it on the second article). Profoundly I’ve discovered a lot of people in Zimbabwe think having dreadlocks is following the Rastafarian culture, but no, it’s not. You become their prey in discovering that you’re not a Rastafarian and they label you as “FAKE”. It’s unethical to the dreadlocks’ philosophy. People have even gone further forgetting that besides the Rastafarian culture dominating, Zimbabwe also has a culture and it’s traditions.

    2. FASHION STYLE

From my previous article in VOLUME 9 on page 7, you now know the basic meaning of Fashion. It’s a goodwill parasite feeding everywhere and on everyone about the globe. Whether you’re cultural or not, the fashion parasite feeds on you. Over the ages of history, dreadlocks were known to be worn/planted around the unabridged head but Fashion has spiced it up. Fashion uses what’s there to transform it into what’s not there. The most common dreadlocks style trending is having dreadlocks only on the middle of your head and none on the sides.

    3. IDENTITY

Africans and Black African Americans are known most yo occur in this category. This is claiming the natural beauty the Almighty has blessed them with. It’s shouting out to the world on how proud they are to be who they are.

Globally dominating; in all corners, streets and allies. Can you define fashion? Not the word, but the realistic meaning. As many but not all say, “Fashion starts with what you wear (as in clothing oneself).” Some go on to think fashion ends on clothing trends and formation. It’s their view and they are not wrong in their point of mindset. For other fox, the salt addition of hairstyles conclude the fashion debate. Again, their mindset. In all this commotion of trying to define fashion to the world, no one is wrong. Now listen. This is what I say about it. Fashion is you. Simply what you make out of yourself. Fashion is how you want to define it and look at it. You don’t let anyone tell you to put on shorts because trousers or long jeans look hideous (yucky) on you. If you hate shorts and what that trouser, that makes you look puffy, wear them. Fashion is not all about the beauty content, it is creativeness (positive or negative). Wearing, hairstyling etc something you don’t like doesn’t make it less fashion. It makes it more. You are simply busy promoting what you don’t love that someone does. Diving into a certain dictionary with a certain contextual meaning; it foretells my idea, vision, and definition of FASHION. It goes on to say, “FASHION is the latest and most admired style in clothes and cosmetics and behavior.” Get this, it does say anything about looking good. Fashion is simply what makes your heart skip a beat. Saying someone’s style is bad fish does not exterminate the meaning of FASHION. FASHION will forever remain neutral to all human forms and animal forms. Being ashamed of a style you dearly love is a disgrace to naturalistic trends. If your send of style is deeply unattractive (bad fish) and it’s not your aim to portray a rotten picture to the world. Find designers or fashion drivers to modify/spice your style, not change it. This also holds hands with the reason why you ought remain the penetration of your fashion sense.
