Sophia Eze, a 23-year-old from Ebonyi state, Nigeria, has defied societal expectations and pursued her passion for pageantry despite studying science laboratory technology in university. Her journey is a testament to her unwavering determination, hard work, and the ability to balance multiple roles in her life.
From a young age, Sophia had a natural affinity for being in front of the camera. She recalls, “Ever since I was a kid, I have always loved being in front of cameras. It’s funny how I studied science laboratory technology in the university, and people would always ask me what business I have there.” Sophia’s decision to pursue her passion for pageantry despite her academic background showcases her fearlessness and willingness to follow her dreams.
Sophia describes herself as someone who never gives up on her goals and dreams. She is a hard worker, persistent, and possesses a fun side that her friends often admire. “My friends have all called me crazy at some point. They keep asking me how I manage to have class and poise outside of my room,” she shares. This combination of determination and a vibrant personality has been instrumental in her success.
In 2018, Sophia participated in her first pageant, where she won the title of Miss Beauty and Brains International Tourism at the age of 18. This experience marked a turning point in her life. Sophia explains, “It was a typical case of talent discovery. I had just gained admission into the University of Nigeria when someone walked up to me and told me how beautiful I was and advised me to go into pageantry.” Encouraged by the positive feedback, Sophia decided to give it a try and competed in Miss Beauty and Brains International, where she placed in the top 3. This experience ignited her passion for modeling and pageantry, leading her to set ambitious goals for herself.
Despite her success in the pageant world, Sophia is not limited to the runway. She is also a skilled baker and occasionally works as a chef in her mother’s restaurant. Additionally, she recently obtained a degree in science laboratory technology/chemistry from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. Sophia’s ability to excel in multiple areas demonstrates her versatility and determination to pursue her passions.
On June 11, 2023, Sophia achieved another milestone in her pageant journey by being crowned Miss Glam World Nigeria. This title holds significant meaning for her as she faced numerous challenges during the preparation for the national pageant. Juggling her final exams and financial constraints, Sophia’s resilience and refusal to give up on her goals shone through. Winning the title amidst these obstacles serves as a reminder of her strength, persistence, and goal-oriented nature. It fuels her determination to push even harder and stronger in achieving her dreams.
