Since her debut in 2011 in the South African music industry, Lemé is a familiar face and is making a different return after 7 years. Releasing albums and touching hearts with her career years, Lemé ‘s love for music combined with her singing voice, reached more than 160 000 views on her music videos, and she proudly embraced her most downloaded song award for 2011.   “I am passionate about life. I believe when life or situations knocks you down, your best defense is to get right back up, but that is not always easy.” says Lemé after being subjected to an armed home robbery that changed her life drastically in 2014.

Lemé van der Walt received the happy news on Friday, 03 February after the National Casting event at Emperors Palace, in Johannesburg. Following the announcement, the semi-finalists took part in a jam-packed two-day conference filled with motivational talks, workshops, up skilling sessions, socializing and networking opportunities, and an introduction to the famous Mrs. SA sisterhood.

What inspired you to compete in Mrs. South Africa?

Mrs. South Africa is foremost a self-discovery and empowerment program that celebrates diversity, ambition, and confidence while showcasing some of the country’s most phenomenal and talented women, and giving them the skills and tools needed to achieve their dreams. The platform Mrs. South Africa creates each year, inspired be to become part of the unique sisterhood.  Lemé wants to take this opportunity to give change to the world, and invest positively into other’s lives around me.  

Lemé is convinced that Mrs. South Africa is a platform that represents woman of different cultures, believes and social orientations.  Thus I believe that should I be the one winning the pageant, that I will be able to live out the qualities of what the organization is representative of, and strives towards as a strong, courageous, inspirational woman, who is proud to be South African. 

To other mothers out there Lemé said “I would like to tell each mother out there in South Africa, and all over the world: ” YOU are doing such a good job, you have been chosen to be the mother of your child, and you are blessed! ” and no matter how hard life get’s, no matter what circumstances you may face, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  Believe in the blessing of the new day and never give up.
