In the heart of KwaZulu Natal ( a city of uMthwalume), a 10 year old boy, Siphesihle Tebogo Shelembe has already made a name for himself in the world of fashion and modelling. Many people strongly believe that modelling is mainly for girls only. But, our superstar model is changing the narrative of the story by showing the world that boys can also do it as well.
As a fashion and commercial model, he views fashion as an art because you can freely express yourself without any restrictions. He also mentioned that the way you package yourself as an individual can boost your confidence, personal identity and credibility. This philosophy has been a driving force behind his personal style and his success career.
As a brand ambassador for Toughees, a reputable giant company which is well known for selling quality school uniforms and school shoes. I use my skills to market their products on television, newspapers and magazines. At the end of the day, l will be paid for providing my services. It is another way of stretching my influence to many places by riding on different platforms of media.
He obtained 25 titles in his career that includes certificates, awards and crowns. Currently, he is reigning as King of Mr and Miss World Radiance South Africa 2024 and he was also nominated as the Best Reigning King in KZN Models Awards of the year.
How do you prepare for a pageant?
Winning is the main goal. l have to pay the price by working hard. Generally, I constantly practice each an everyday to perfect my craftwork. I also check the theme of the pageant because they usually come with a theme colour and l have to stick to it. I have to make sure that my hair cut and outfits are on point before the day of the event arrives.
Do you think that academics is very important to models?
Absolutely, yes! It provides financial security, independence and self – confidence. It develops interpersonal skills, helps models to think clearly and make informed decisions
How do you balance your studies and social life?
Time management is a master key to success. I strictly run my day according to my schedule which l have designed for myself. It keeps me on the track and productive as well. Simply because l juggle a lot of activities at the same time. I am a student, model, cricket player (captain ), rugby player ( frank ), soccer player (defender) and swimmer as well.
