Menzi Mabuza is a 27 year old young man who was born and bred in Johannesburg. He is a South African fashion designer, entrepreneur and multiple – talented gem who is dressing the rich and famous models, actors and artists in proudly African designs. He firmly believes that he has what it takes to be the best designer of the town. Eye catching is a solid brand that promotes cultural pride and youth empowerment with high quality stylish and comfortable garments that fit all body shapes and sizes.

His journey of designing clothes embarked when he was in Secondary School. It started as a joke and it was a way to generate a source of income for himself. The passion grew bigger and bigger to such an extent he bought several sewing machines when he matriculated. This was the turning point of his life because he wanted to provide excellent professionalism into his business. Through thin and thick his business is still standing even up today.

How has the fashion industry changed since you entered it?

Currently, we are living in a global village whereby our special customers have a wide variety to choose what they really want. As a fashion designer, you have to strive to be creative and innovative so that customers can buy your products. The plain truth is that customers of nowadays are more educated and they know their rights unlike in the past years.

What did you learn so far in your entrepreneur journey?

I have learnt to deal with pressure from my clients especially in times like festival season such as Christmas or Easter holidays whereby everyone desires to dress up and look good. Above all, what keeps the business is the customer service. Treat each customer with respect and dignity so that he or she can come back again or market your business on your behalf to the next person.

What was your biggest fear when you decided to be a full time fashion designer?

Not knowing what the outcome would be and having to write my own blueprint.
