Interview by Lewis Nyamakosi

In a world that often demands women to choose just one path, this remarkable woman defies expectations by embracing them all. A Hospital Pharmacist, Radio Presenter, and Model, Archana Sridhar is proof that passion, purpose, and perseverance can coexist beautifully.

We sat down with her to talk about her journey, the challenges she’s faced, and the wisdom she’s gathered along the way.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in the modeling industry.

I’m a Hospital Pharmacist, Radio Presenter, and Model. My journey into modeling began with pageants, where I discovered my passion for fashion design and the electrifying thrill of the runway. What started as a curiosity evolved naturally into a true calling.

How do you balance your personal and professional life, and what advice would you give to others who struggle with this?

I live by something my mum used to say: “Change of work is rest.” Multitasking isn’t a burden for me—it’s a way to stay energized and productive. Shifting between roles doesn’t wear me down; it revitalizes me. My advice? A moment lost is a precious opportunity gone. Time is your greatest asset—invest it wisely.

What do you think are the most important qualities for a woman to possess in order to be successful?

Resilience and an unyielding drive for growth. Success isn’t one-size-fits-all—it’s a personal journey. A woman who’s committed to learning, evolving, and rising above challenges is already on the path to greatness. Every step forward is a win.

Tell us about a particularly challenging experience you’ve had, and how you overcame it.

Despite the strides we’ve made, women still face the burden of constantly having to justify their worth. It’s disheartening, but it’s also a call to action. Real change requires more than surface-level equality—it needs structural shifts. Overcoming this challenge requires resilience, but more importantly, a united vision of what true empowerment looks like.

How do you stay positive and motivated, even in difficult times?

I’m blessed with a deeply supportive family and a strong sense of self-motivation. That combination keeps me grounded and focused, even when the going gets tough.

As a titleholder, what do you hope to achieve, and how do you plan to use your platform to make a difference?

I want to shine a spotlight on women’s health—particularly chronic illness and medication adherence. Through my platform and pageant experience, I hope to educate and inspire, helping women everywhere take control of their health and wellbeing.

How do you think women can support and uplift each other, rather than compete?

Start with listening. When we truly hear each other—without judgment or comparison—we create a space for genuine support and connection. That’s where real empowerment begins.

What advice would you give to young women just beginning their journey?

Prioritize your education—it’s the foundation for everything. Then, find a cause that sets your soul on fire. Use your knowledge and passion to make an impact. The world is waiting for your voice.

Can you tell us about a woman who inspires you?

My mother. Her resilience, passion, and unwavering energy continue to inspire me every day. She taught me to face life with courage and compassion—and that’s a lesson I carry with me always.

How do you think the Mrs. South Africa pageant empowers women?

The pageant instills self-worth—a foundational tool for every woman. It cultivates confidence, and through that, creates a strong sisterhood. This bond empowers each participant, and they go on to spread that empowerment to others.

How can women challenge societal norms and expectations?

Women have long been forces of change, even when their efforts were hidden. Now, with broader platforms and increased visibility, their voices are shaping new narratives and breaking down outdated norms. Visibility is power—and we’re finally being seen.

What are the most pressing issues facing South African women today, and how can we address them?

Health education, awareness, and equal access to opportunity remain pressing challenges. We must amplify women’s voices and ensure every woman has the tools to live a safe, empowered, and dignified life.

How do you plan to continue making an impact after the pageant?

I’ll continue collaborating with organizations focused on women’s health and education. Every woman empowered is a ripple effect—a village lifted. That’s the kind of change I’m committed to making.
