At just 16 years old, Ezimnandi Kwini has already proven that she’s a force to be reckoned with on the pageant circuit. The Gqeberha native recently claimed the title of 2nd Runner-up in the pre-teen category at the prestigious Miss KwaMagxaki 2024 competition, and her journey to get there is nothing short of inspiring.
“My love affair with modeling began years ago, during a time when I was struggling to find my place in the world,” Ezimnandi recounts, her voice laced with a touch of nostalgia. “Bullies, insecurities, and anxiety had taken a toll on my self-esteem, leaving me feeling lost and alone. But it was in those darkest moments that my mother introduced me to the world of beauty pageants, and everything changed.”
Watching those confident, poised women strut down the runway awakened something within Ezimnandi. “I saw a glimmer of hope,” she says. “I realized that I too could be like them – strong, beautiful, and empowered.”
Balancing her studies at Woolhope Secondary School and her burgeoning modeling career hasn’t been an easy feat, but Ezimnandi credits the Kungawo Foundation for their invaluable guidance. “They’ve taught me to prioritize my education, reminding me that in the modeling industry, beauty alone is not enough – it must be accompanied by brains and substance.”
And that mentality has clearly paid off. As the second runner-up of Miss KwaMagxaki 2024, Ezimnandi is now poised to become a beacon of hope for those who, like her, once felt unworthy or unprivileged. “I want to empower them to chase their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem,” she declares, her eyes shining with determination.
Ezimnandi’s ultimate goal is to become the next Miss South Africa, using her platform to inspire and uplift others. “To anyone with a dream that seems too big, I say: don’t be afraid to pursue it,” she offers, her voice brimming with conviction. “It won’t always be easy, but remember that baby steps lead to success. Keep pushing forward, and never lose sight of your aspirations.”
