At just 11 years old, Sothando is already making waves in the modeling world. Hailing from the vibrant city of Port Elizabeth, this young dynamo was recently crowned the Junior Queen Miss KwaMagxaki 2024, proving that age is just a number when it comes to pursuing your dreams.
Sothando’s journey into modeling has been marked by a delicate balance between her studies and her passion for the catwalk. “Time management and discipline are two most critical skills a model should possess,” she explains, her eyes shining with determination. “My wish is not to only be a model but a qualified doctor as well. To ensure my dream come true, I have designed a timetable to help manage my time effectively.”
This meticulous approach has paid off, as Sothando seamlessly juggles her modeling commitments with her studies at Urban Academy. “I complete my homework first before starting with pageant preparations. Fortunately, my modeling classes are only on a Monday, unless if we are preparing for a competition, we normally have 1-hour rehearsals on a Saturday, which still gives me enough time to study and play.”
Looking ahead, Sothando has set her sights on even greater heights. “I see myself walking on an international stage as Miss SA teen. My main goal is to inspire young girls that nothing is impossible, if you believe and work hard you can be anything you want to be,” she declares, her voice brimming with confidence.
Sothando’s message to other aspiring models is one of unwavering self-belief and determination. “If you believe you can achieve, just put your mind to it. Work hard, pray hard and believe in yourself. You will not win every competition but that does not define you, take that as an opportunity to learn and improve. You are worthy and more than capable to be anything you want to be.”
