Despite everything that had been going in the world due to Covid. 5nine managed to stay on track. Fueled with inspiration and a lot of time on his hands he placed a few singles under his belt. Perfect coincidence and Roora being some of those songs

Model Guide Magazine Online correspondent Keegan Chipato (KC) caught up with 5nine to discuss more about his work as a Rapper, below are the extracts of the interview.

K.C 5nine would you kindly introduce yourself to us.

5nine. – Well, I am a Zimbabwean born singer/ songwriter from the Sunshine city of Harare.

  • An ambassador of Zim music to the world at large also known as Optimus 5ive The King of Vibes

K.C You’re currently one of Zimbabwe’s youngest best upcoming artist, Could you give us some insight into what comprised your musical journey.

5nine. The journey has been full of ups and downs but i’m glad to say both the good and the bad has left bery valuable lessons that always equip me for whats to come

  • I wouldn’t have been here without the love and support of my fans, family and the team thats behind all the work that we see as finished products
  • Behind all that is a team of geniuses that know their role and plan everything towards the success of the brand 5nine, following a very dignified vision and purpose

K.C Delving into the role of an independent artist is not an easy task, let alone when you’re still so young and relatively new to the industry. Despite this, you have managed to establish your own brand label; “Drumline Music Entertainment.” I’m curious, what inspired such a bold undertaking?

5nine- Drumline Music Entertainment is the future, it is the vision that is yet to be fulfilled

  • This has been inspired by the desire to grow with others not just alone, the desire to grow as a unit and to grow Zimbabwean music.
  • Though it is still at its roots we look forward to water this idea as the brand 5nine grows , however the main focus at the moment is to make sure that 5nine the brand is equipped with all the tools and intentionally set forward to set an example for other young artists to follow and pave way for them as well with a clear blueprint to follow

K.C The year 2020 marked the start of your professional career which debuted with an Ep, “Feeling over filters” that went on to attract veterans in the industry like Sanii Makhalima and later on Ngoni Kambarami. As an upcoming artist it is not that easy having access to such household names. Kindly share with us how did these two collaborations came about?

5nine – Firstly shoutout to Sanii Makhalima and to Ngoni Kambarami for naturing me and allowing me to be part of their amazing careers

  • These collaborations came to me in the most unexpected way, i will start with the collaboration with Mkoma Sanii Makhalima who i’m so proud to say that we became brothers after that collaboration, in him i found a big brother , mentor, and a friend all in one
  • Going back to the collaboration with him, all thanks goes to one of the most beautiful socialites we have from Zimbabwe, the one and only Zimfitmum(letty)
  • She posted a reel with my song in the background and Sanii was really intrigued by the song so he asked who the song belonged to and Zimfitmum connected the two of us then the rest is history
  • A few months down the line, we did a remix of that same song that brought us together called Yuhwi Maihwe
  • With Ngoni kambarami, it was bery surreal i couldnt really believe it cause i really grew up to Ngoni’s music
  • My mum used to like that Angela song so much from Ngoni. So a friend from the Uk connected us through social media and he said he like what i was doing …
  • I sent him a demo and in no time he sent me a full song. It is one of the smoothest collabs i have ever done and Ngoni is such a wonderful soul not only as a musician but as a human being.

K.C As we all know that success does not occur without a bit of some resistance, What were some of the steepest challenges you encountered during your time within the musical industry

5nine. The journey hasn’t been the smoothest for sure , but i always look at it with a positive eye because with the challenges came lessons and the much needed growth

  • However, it can be very tough doing music from outside the country with your country people as the primary market
  • Getting intouch with the Zim world and making an impact was so tough at first since i’m based in China. But well the future is very bright , coming home has been the best thing i have ever done for my career
  • Also getting a management team that handles most of the business side and the marketing side of music has been a game changer for me , i have managed to get access to a lot of things that I couldn’t get for years in the industry. For that S/O to my team and my trusted allies

K.C Being able to fulfill your most desired purpose in life is an important factor in any undertaking. Your astounding career and achievements is indeed motivation for many other young upcoming artists. What advice would you like to give to them.

5nine. To every upcoming artists out there or just anyone with a dream, i want to say consistency is key, pick your battle and consistency work towards your vision and purpose

  • Nothing beats hardwork , everything else will fall into place , just do your part , do what you can amd let God do the rest

K.C Thank you very much 5nine its been an amazing opportunity to have you for this interview. But before we conclude, would you kindly fill us in on your aspirations for the reminder of this year.

5nine. A lot is in store for the remainder of the year
