Zimbabwe’s journey at Miss International 2026 has taken an unexpected turn following an official announcement confirming that Ruvimbo Njomboro will no longer fulfil her remaining duties, including representing the country at the international pageant in Japan.
In a press release dated 6 November 2026, Miss International Zimbabwe confirmed that it had mutually agreed with Ruvimbo Njomboro to grant her a dispensation from her remaining official responsibilities due to personal circumstances.
The announcement effectively brings an end to Ruvimbo’s anticipated participation at the upcoming Miss International competition, although the statement does not describe the decision as a dismissal or a withdrawal initiated by either party.
According to the organisation, the decision followed discussions between both parties, with consideration given to Ruvimbo’s current circumstances and the demands associated with fulfilling her remaining commitments.
The statement further emphasised that Ruvimbo remains grateful for the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe and continues to hold the title and responsibilities entrusted to her in high regard.
Leaked conversation had already raised concerns
The official announcement comes after screenshots of an alleged private Instagram conversation between Ruvimbo and the verified Miss International account circulated on social media.
The conversation, reportedly dated 9 September 2026, revealed that the international organisation had concerns about Zimbabwe’s participation, particularly regarding communication with the national director.
In the messages, the international organisation claimed that it had not received a response from the national director, that no contract had been signed and that no entry fee had been paid.
With less than two months remaining before the expected arrival of delegates, the organisation reportedly expressed uncertainty about whether Ruvimbo would be able to participate.
It also informed her that only nine places remained available and that it did not want to put her in an embarrassing situation or allow her supporters to continue expecting an outcome that might not materialise.
Ruvimbo responded appreciatively, thanking the organisation for communicating with her directly and promising to provide an update once she had clarity.
At the time, the exchange raised questions about the administrative arrangements surrounding Zimbabwe’s participation and the level of communication between the national franchise and the international organisation.
Although the September conversation and November press release concern Ruvimbo’s participation, the official statement does not explicitly connect her departure to the previously raised contractual, payment or communication concerns.
Instead, the organisation has attributed the mutual agreement to personal circumstances.
It would therefore be premature to conclude that the administrative concerns outlined in the leaked messages directly resulted in her eventual departure.
Nevertheless, the timing of the two developments is likely to generate further discussion among pageant followers, particularly those who had been following Zimbabwe’s preparations for the international competition.
In its latest statement, Miss International Zimbabwe acknowledged the public interest surrounding the country’s international representation but described the matter as private.
The organisation requested that the media and public respect Ruvimbo’s privacy and that of her family, while strongly discouraging speculation and direct approaches to her or her relatives for further comment.
All media enquiries have instead been directed to the organisation’s designated representative.
Another unexpected development for Zimbabwean pageantry
For Ruvimbo Njomboro, the announcement marks an unexpected change to what was anticipated to be an important international chapter in her pageant journey.
Representing a country at Miss International is an opportunity that comes with significant expectations, preparation and responsibility. Her absence from the upcoming competition will undoubtedly leave questions among supporters who had been looking forward to seeing Zimbabwe represented on the international stage.

For now, the organisation has maintained that the decision was mutual and based on personal circumstances.
However, with the previously leaked messages now forming part of the public conversation, attention is likely to remain on how Zimbabwe’s international pageant representation is managed and the importance of communication, preparation and institutional support.
One thing is clear: Ruvimbo Njomboro will not be proceeding with her remaining Miss International duties, and Zimbabwe’s anticipated representation at the upcoming edition has taken a different direction.
Model Guide Magazine will continue to monitor developments surrounding Miss International Zimbabwe 2026.
