Currently only four models have successfully been holders of the title Mister Zimbabwe.
Rish Verma (Harare);Shadel Noble (Bulawayo) ;Byron Mulinga (Harare) and the outgoing Mister Zimbabwe,Devson Luzane (Gweru) .
It hasn’t been easy journey for the four Kings to climb up the ladder and be recognized as Mister Zimbabwe.
In the past 3 years,the Mister Zimbabwe title has been done through ordination,where by the winner is selected by voters of the People’s choice which is a category in Zimbabwe Model’s Awards .
Which was criticised by some members of the public,however last year .
The organisers of the pageant created a platform that will allow contests to catwalk throughout the ramp and be questioned on why they should be appointed Mister Zimbabwe .
In an interview with one of the co-founders of the pageant ,Mercy Mushaninga ,she stated out that it hasn’t been easy to be patron of a male pageant.
As few or no sponsorships are done compared to the female pageants. She said most people who organise,male pageants they finance every activity of the event from their pocket and heart.
Mercy further explained that,there will be People’s choice and the judges choice . The judges choice assist the judges to learn about the person’s character.
When questioned about he benefits of being Mister Zimbabwe,her words wrapped up one word ‘Exposure’.
“You have seen from all the Kings ,that we have crowned that they have managed to get endorsed from different brands.
“Byron has managed to push his music brand,Rish as well has managed to called for photoshoots international and he has featured in elite magazine,Shadel has also taken part in international modelling ramps. Devson has been a fitness trainer for some time,the minute he was crowned he became exposed and don’t forget they pushed their own brands.
To those who would like to take part in the pageant,either former contestants or not, she urged them to send in their profiles,under Mister Zimbabwe category,where they will get registered and will be called to be interviewed
Only 10 models will be selected to take part in the pageant.
