In the heart of Umhlathuze, Dumisani Makhaya Village, a young leader is emerging. At just 16 years old, Fezeka Nontando Mtshali—a proud Miss Teen Icora FM Finalist—is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to chasing dreams, serving the community, and staying grounded in faith.
Fezeka’s journey into the world of modeling began only a year ago at the age of 15. For her, the runway isn’t just about the clothes; it’s a platform for personal evolution. She shares that her drive comes from a desire to explore creativity and build confidence, stepping out of her comfort zone to see what she is truly capable of. While she commands attention on the catwalk, her soul finds its peace in music. Fezeka is a dedicated gospel singer and worshiper, using her voice to inspire others and express her deep-rooted faith.
As a finalist for Miss Teen Icora FM, Fezeka views the pageant through a lens of grace and leadership. While winning would be a “surreal experience,” she is quick to point out that the crown is secondary to the character of the person wearing it. She is focused on leading fairly and cherishing the journey, growth, and connections made along the way. Her message to her fellow contestants is one of pure empowerment: “You nailed it!” She insists that this experience is about more than a title—it is about the sisterhood and lifelong memories they have created together.
Behind every strong young woman is a foundation of support, and for Fezeka, that foundation is her mother, Ms. Nobuhle Gumede. Her mother’s resilience, hard work, and dedication to her own goals serve as a daily inspiration, teaching Fezeka the importance of staying true to herself while striving for excellence.
Looking ahead, Fezeka’s ambitions are as bold as her personality. Over the coming years, she envisions herself balancing the rigors of medical school with the expansion of her singing career. Her heart for service is equally ambitious, as she plans to open an organization dedicated to providing shelter, food, clothing, and sanitary facilities for homeless families. While she continues to aim for major modeling stages and the Miss Teen Icora FM title, her ultimate goal remains personal: to show the world that she is, in every sense, a “Queen of her own.”
